Shirley Jean Newingham, 87, passed away on April 29, 2023. She was born on March 16, 1936, in Alton, Illinois, to Henry and Mae McCane.
Shirley was a kind, caring, and strong-willed person who was always willing to stand up for what she believed in. She was not afraid to speak her mind, but she did it with love and kindness. But most of all, Shirley loved to take care of her friends and family and also spend time with them. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose memory will forever be cherished by those that loved her.
Shirley was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Newingham; parents, Henry McCane and Mae (Collins) McCane; brothers, Billy McCane and Richard McCane; and sisters, Helen McCane and Linda McCane. She is survived by her sons, Kevin Newingham (Lynn) of Batesville and Michael Newingham of Batesville; brothers, Larry McCane of Illinois and Bobby McCane of California; sister, Nancy McCane of Batesville; grandsons, Mason Newingham of Batesville and Seth Bailey of Knoxville, Tennessee; as well as many nieces and nephews.
