Shirley Ann Barnett, 83, went home to be with the LORD on Monday, November 14, 2022. She was born in Batesville, AR, on November 3, 1939, to Loral and Myrtle Vickers.
A lifelong resident of Batesville, Arkansas, Shirley was an active member of the Quail Valley Church of Christ. Shirley worked at home raising her 5 kids until she took a job at ConAgra in 1966 where she gave over 35 years of faithful service before her retirement. The thing in this world that was most important to both Shirley and her husband Alfred was family.
Maybe because Shirley was an only child, she made certain her home was always a welcoming place that was usually filled with people. She loved every minute cooking for her kids and their friends, shopping with her girls, and working outside in her flowerbeds. Later when her children married and had kids of their own she looked forward to holidays when she hosted everyone or trips to visit her family in their homes.
When Shirley wasn’t with her family, both she and her loving husband Alfred enjoyed attending and serving their church, and most days could be found meeting friends for coffee or a meal. Shirley always had a smile, a kind word, and a hug to give everyone she met, and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 66 years, Alfred Barnett. She is survived by her son, Ronny Barnett of Bella Vista, AR; daughters, Kathy Burba (Bobby) of Batesville, AR, Brenda Martin (Eddy) of Jonesboro, AR, Sherry Rounds (Gary) of Batesville, AR, and Vicky Byler (Allen) of Friendswood, TX; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; as well as many extended family members, church members, friends, and coworkers.
A visitation will be held at Quail Valley Church of Christ on Thursday, November 17, 2022, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. The funeral service, officiated by David Moore, will follow the visitation starting at 2 p.m. Interment will be at Oaklawn Cemetery.
