Sandra Beck Obituary

Sandy was born in Chicago in 1950 and grew up in Northlake, Il with her parents and siblings. She attended St John Vianney grade school and graduated from West Leyden High School. In 1970 she became a mail person for the Franklin Park and River Grove Post Offices. In 1974 she began her career with Shell Oil company in Pipeline Operations and Integrations. In the late 1980’s an injury prevented her from continuing to work in that industry, so she decided to move to her home in Cherokee Village Arkansas.  During the 1990’s Sandy was a volunteer driver and certified EMT with the Cherokee Village Ambulance Service and a Senior Citizen Bus Driver.

With Sandy you learned to expect the unexpected and knew every outing with her would be an adventure. So we mourn her loss but also celebrate a life well lived on her terms.

Sandy loved to fish and shared that love with so many young family members, friend’s children and neighborhood children. I cannot even imagine the number of kids who caught their first fish with Sandy.  She had a calling for helping the elderly and took many older friends fishing cheering them up with her brand of Sandy humor and fun.

Sandy’s love for animals was legendary. She took into her home every stray animal she encountered. Including horses, dogs, cats, parrots, lop eared rabbits, raccoons and chipmunks! If you knew Sandy and didn’t have a pet that came from her it certainly wasn’t due to her lack of trying. She did not have pets, she had a pack!

Sandy was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, great aunt, cousin and friend to many. Her incredibly large heart and giving spirit will be greatly missed.

Services will be held in Illinois. However, the family of Sandy Beck would like to give a huge thank you to all the wonderful people Sandy befriended and those who helped and befriended her since she moved to Cherokee Village in the 1980’s.
