Robin Shields Obituary

Robin Lynne Shields, 76, went to be with his heavenly father on September 7, 2021. He was born on November 15, 1944, in San Fernando, California to Rether and Colleene Shields.

Robin will forever be remembered as a devoted husband, father, son, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a hero to his family and friends. Not only was he a caregiver, but he also taught many life-lessons to all. He had a wonderful sense of humor, just like his father, and he was always ready with a joke and a smile. He lit up every room with his bigger-than-life personality.

Robin was a proud veteran who served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. Although he was a veteran, his first duty was as a husband and a father. He was the kind of man who put others' needs before his own, especially those he considered family.

During his free time, he enjoyed being outdoors. He loved to rock crawl in his Bronco, go camping, drag racing, hunting, and fishing. He was also a great mechanic and loved to build things, especially with his sons. His gentle spirit profoundly resonated with every pet he ever cared for, not least of which his beloved Bella.

He was very proud of his land and could be found outside riding on his tractor, splitting wood, or gardening. Although he loved spending time outdoors, he also enjoyed cooking for his family and friends. His breakfasts were legendary, particularly his poached eggs that he somehow cooked perfectly every time. He wasn’t the greatest baker, especially when he forgot the sugar, but he sure liked trying.

He is preceded in death by his father, Rether Robert Shields; and brothers, Terrill Shields and Kendall Shields. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Adiena Shields; mother, Colleene Shields; sons, Nathaniel Shields (Katheryne) and Brent Shields (Lisa); daughter, Amy Shields; grandchildren, James McCormick, Tyler McCormick, Kathryn Tull-Shields, Madelyn Tull, Taylor Shields, Shelby Shields, Ashlie Hale, and Todd Shields; great-grandchildren, Brayden McCormick, Shamus McCormick, Tyler McCormick Jr., Zoiee McCormick, Nessa McCormick, Aliyjah Shields, Aria Shields, and Isaac Shields; and as a father figure to Thomas Shields, Steve Harrelson, and countless others.

These limited and modest words could never adequately describe the person his family often referred to as the man, the myth, the legend.

The family will make an announcement when a memorial service will be held, which will be at a later date.
