Rita Jane Brooks

Rita Jane Brooks, 64, of Batesville entered the gates of heaven on Monday, December 28, 2020 at the age of 64. Rita was born November 25, 1956 to the late C.C. Tyler and Bessie (Martin) Tyler in Manilla, AR. Rita was a woman of Christian faith and her faith was evident in her actions throughout life. She valued selfless service and helping others. She loved to work with her hands, gardening, carpentry, and working outdoors. Rita was a retired seamstress by trade, but she pursued many endeavors in her spare time. Her greatest passion was for veterans. Rita’s family has served this country in the armed forces for multiple generations. She volunteered her time to serve veterans and their families at the American Legion and VFW. She volunteered on state and local levels, even helping get the organizations setup with social media.

Rita is preceded in death by both or her parents; her sister, Sharon Tyler; her brothers, Jerry Tyler, Gary Tyler, and Ed Tyler; She is survived by her husband, John Brooks; her sons, Timothy Strain (Rhonda) and Jason Strain (Dana); 4 brothers:  Larry Tyler, Terry Tyler, Dickie Tyler, and Randy Tyler; 4 grandchildren:  Kyle  Strain (Liz), Hunter Strain, Maci Strain, and Michael Strain; and Rita had just found out, much to her delight, that she was going to be a great grandmother, as Kyle and Liz are expecting.

Arrangements are entrusted to Willis Funeral Service of Batesville, AR

The family will host a memorial service Saturday, January 23, 2021; at the American Legion #114 in Batesville, AR at 2PM.
