Mitchell Duncan Obituary

Mitchell Allen Duncan, 59, of Alton, IL, left this world March 21, 2024 at 8:30am in Evening Shade, AR, with his sisters by his side, due to illness.  Mitch was born in San Jose, California on March 6, 1965.  Mitch never married, but he knew love thru his siblings and children. Most important to him, his children and grandson.  Twins Allen and Britnie Duncan and Aaron Collins-Duncan and grandson Isaiah.

When we think of Mitch, the word tenacious comes to mind.  He faced many challenges in his life, childhood to adulthood, from falling from scaffolding injuring is legs and back, to being hit by a car that cause his arm to be injured, then to a fall that caused his partial paralysis.  Yet he still lived on his own, building a motorized bike and a ramp.  He grew his plants and cooked on a regular basis.  Mitch was an amazing cook and came up with many awesome and tasty dishes.

Mitch was a very skilled craftsman; he was an innovative thinker.  He would see a problem and be able to resolve it.  Mitch became a master at siding, building trusses, doing heating and cooling but his most favorite jobs was being the cook for the oil rig supply vessel out of Galveston, TX.

Preceded in death his adoptive mother Jometa Sue Leathers. His grandmother, Jeanetta Susan Brown and his grandfather, Joe Wilson Testerman.

Mitch is survived by his children, twins:  Allen Duncan and Britney Goldberg both of Virginia.  Aaron Collins-Duncan (Cheyenne) of Granite City, IL.  His grandson Isaiah.  His birth mother Jeanne Carlile (Jack) of Alton, IL.  His sisters:  Laurie York of Evening Shade, AR.  Cherie Deal of Evening Shade, AR.  Carrie Stawar (Brian) of Bunker Hill, IL and Jamie Tucker (Dennis) of Jonesboro, AR.  Many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.  Mitch’s good friend, Greg Covington of Alton, Il.

Willis Funeral Service of Batesville, AR is in charge of cremation service.  There will be a small family celebration of life at his sister’s house in Evening Shade, AR on Sunday March 24, 2024.  Presiding is Pastor Jeremiah Sander for a few words.
