Jerry Ross McGee passed on June 25, 2020, at his home in Jane, Missouri.
He was born on October 11, 1954, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He is survived by his spouse Diane McGee and his two sons Jerry Ross McGee Jr., Jeffrey Lewis McGee, daughter-in-law Edith Avie McGee, and two stepsons Christopher Shaun Riley and Devin Scott Riley. Jerry proudly served in the United States Army and was deployed during the Vietnam War. He spent his life working in mechanical construction and as a carpenter. He worked zealously, taking pride in his work.
Jerry Ross McGee was the kind of man they just don’t make anymore. He loved his family wholeheartedly, never falling short of “I love you”s. He held his front door wide open, welcoming strangers as if they were kin. He understood the value of his friendships, always placing his loved ones above himself. He was a God-fearing man and a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Jane, Missouri. He loved to hunt and fish and could make the best deer jerky in all of the South. Jerry could play guitar better than the greats. He was like a cowboy from an old movie, a true embodiment of a southern gentleman.
The viewing will be held on June 30th at Willis Funeral Home in Batesville, Arkansas at 11:30 am-1:30 pm. There will be a graveside service to follow at Blue Springs Cemetery in Newark, Arkansas at 2 pm.
