Gene Simpson Obituary

Gene Simpson, 82, passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2020. He was born on April 26, 1938, in Gainsboro, Arkansas. Gene was a member of the Charlotte Church of Christ. Gene never met a stranger a day in his life, he just loved people. He was an insurance salesman for over 40 years, an avid collector of vintage items, a cattle farmer, and a lover of food, especially from The Bulldog, his favorite restaurant in Bald Knob.  Above all Gene loved his family, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He will be greatly missed and his memory will be cherished by those who love him.

 

Gene is preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Justina Simpson; brother, Hubert Simpson; and sister, Pearl Lockamy. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Patsy Simpson; sisters, Betty Daniel, Marie Hix, and Bertha Rounds; son, Greg Simpson (Sheila); daughter, Gayla Simpson Hopson; grandchildren, Brittani McClurg (Jim), Landon Austin, and Lauren Smith; and great-grandchildren, Corbin, and Emerson McClurg.

 

Pallbearers are Greg Simpson, Jim McClurg, Landon Austin, D.J. Bellomy, Chuck Hix, and David Rounds. A graveside service will be held Saturday, October 17, 2020, at 10 a.m. at Lee’s Chapel on White Drive with brother Chuck Crow officiating.
