Floyd Salter

Floyd Salter, 85, of Batesville died on Saturday, May 7, 2022. Floyd was born on May 3, 1937; in Batesville, AR to the late Jay Presley and Ida (Pace) Presley. He was of Christian faith (Church of Christ) and knew the Lord Jesus Christ as his savior. Floyd loved dirt track racing. He was the founder of Salter Racing, which celebrates its 50th year of racing this year. Floyd also loved truck driving. It was a passion but also his lifelong profession. He was the owner/operator of Salter Trucking and drove 18 wheelers since his early teens. Floyd enjoyed racing and trucking, but his passion was his family, especially his wife Helen and his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Floyd is survived by his loving wife of over 64 years, Helen Salter; his sons, Michael Salter (Sherry) and Calvin Salter (Michelle); his two brothers, Jerry Goff, and Doug Presley; his sister, Geraldine Patterson; his 5 grandchildren, Kendra Hoggard (Brandon), Joshua Salter (Katy), Philip Salter (Liz), Taylor Medler (Cody), and Morgan Salter; his 7 great grandsons and one great granddaughter; and several nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; his twin brother, Lloyd Salter; his sister, Sue Hadley, and his daughter, Teresia Mynatt.

Services are entrusted to Willis Funeral Service of Batesville, AR. There will be a visitation on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, from 12PM until 1PM at the Willis Funeral Service Chapel. Afterward, there will be a graveside service at Kyler Cemetery in Southside, AR at 2PM with Keith Salter officiating. Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Kenny Salter, Kevin Salter, Josh Salter, Philip Salter, Cody Medler, and Bobby Smithee.
