Eleanor Garner Obituary

Eleanor Frances Garner, 81, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on the morning of April 4th, 2022, in her hometown of Heber Springs, Arkansas with her family by her side. She was a loving wife, nurturing mother of five children, doting grandmother of fifteen children, and great grandmother of five children. She lived her life as a devout Christian, touching hearts and minds through her personal ministry and by serving others with love and dignity. She never passed up the opportunity to share the gospel while helping others in need. She will be dearly missed by family, friends, and all who knew her.

Frances was born November 18, 1940, in Oakland, Tennessee, to the late James and Annie McGee of Memphis, Tennessee. After graduating from Bartlett High School, she went on to work for various notable companies such as Sears and Roebuck, G.E., and Southwestern Bell before getting married and settling down with her husband John Garner on June 6, 1968. Frances loved being a wife and mother while sojourning with her family across Mississippi, Tennessee, and Northern Arkansas before making Heber Springs her home. She enjoyed reading her bible, singing hymns, spending time with family and cooking some truly wonderful meals.

She is preceded in death by her brothers Chalmers Taylor, James McGee, Jimmy McGee, Jerry McGee, and her sisters Opal Hill, Margie Miller, Martha Elbert, Irene Hart, and Bonnie Burkeen. She is survived by her husband John Garner, her children Cindy Garner, John D. Garner Jr, Teri Lynn Tutor, Michael Garner (Laura), and David Garner; brothers, Leonard McGee and Richard McGee (Barbara); sister, Gloria White; her beloved grandchildren Jacob, Stacey, Alex, Stephanie, Joshua, Dakota, Jessie, Jonathan, Daniel, Caitlin, Madison, Shawn, Tyler, Derin, Deniz; and five beautiful great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held at Heber Springs Funeral Home on Saturday, April 9, 2022, from 1 to 2 p.m. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Tommy Carpenter, will follow the visitation beginning at 2 p.m. Interment will be at Cleburne County Memorial Gardens.
