Cora Bell Hatler, 87, passed away on October 17, 2021. She was born in Fisk, Missouri, on February 1, 1934, to Harvey and Ruby Morse. She married Jerry Hatler in 1951 and spent sixty-one wonderful years together until he passed away in 2012.
She loved to spend her time crocheting, reading, gardening, and woodworking. She was a skilled craftsman and could build anything from miniature barns and dollhouses to large pieces of furniture. Cora left the eighth grade to help raise her siblings but was determined to finish school. In 1988, she received her GED from Black Hawk College. Woodworking was not the only thing she was skilled at; she was also a great mechanic and completed a course in small engine repair. Another one of her achievements was starting a union in her hometown and completing the AFSCME Local Union Steward Training Program. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW. Cora was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose memory will forever be cherished by those that loved her.
She is survived by her daughters, Debbie Peterson (David), Connie Henderson (Bill), and Charlotte Campbell-Covet (John); one brother and several sisters; grandchildren, Joe Parker, Amanda Johnson, Travis Hatler, D.J. Peterson, Margaret Cash, Wade Hatler, Josh Hatler, and Patricia Chenoweth; as well as ten great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Harvey Wade Morse and Ruby (Lambert) Morse; husband, Jerry Hatler; son, Dennis Hatler; and several brothers and sisters.
