William E. Weaver Jr. (Brownie) 85, Died Tuesday 2, December 2014, at the Batesville Hospital of heart failure. He was born in Presque Isle Maine on 24 March 1929, the son of William and Mariah Weaver. Brownie was born, raised, and lived most of his life in Northern Maine, but took great pleasure in traveling the state and country with his wife of 57 years, Lois Jean (Wilson) Weaver. Many months and miles were spent on the road enjoying time and adventures with family and friends from coast to coast. He was drafted into and served honorably in the Korean War as a US Army Tank Gunner. He came home to Maine, raised his family and worked as an operating engineer building and maintaining many of the roads and highways still in use today. After retirement Brownie spent much of his free time in his shop producing the material for, and weaving traditional Aroostook County ash baskets for family, friends, and eventually for sale on the Maine tourist market. He is survived by his two sons and their wives, Michael and Gail Weaver of Lebanon, Maine and Mark and Marie Weaver of New Baltimore, Michigan; a daughter Ella and her husband Ricki McPherson of Cushman Arkansas; a brother Guy Weaver and his wife Burt of Presque Isle, Maine; two sisters, Lucy Stevens of Ashland, Maine and Lois Burt of Virginia Beach, Virginia; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Bernard (Buddy) Weaver; four sisters, Pauline Lee, Madeline Windsor, Priscilla (Kicker) Perkins, Helen Maynard; and a great grandson, Brandon Low. A memorial service celebrating the life of Brownie, and Lois Weaver and the placing of their ashes to rest will be held in the spring at the Northern Maine Veterans cemetery in Caribou, Maine.
