Obituary

William Vernon Cummings passed away October 9, 2020 at the age of 92. He was born February 25, 1929 at Cave Creek in Independence County.

William was a member and a deacon of Emmanuel Baptist Church. He served in the U. S. Navy. He worked at the International Shoe Company until it closed. He was manager of Southside Water for 25 years, and he also served on the Southside School Board.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Jessie Kimmer Cummings; his parents, Bill and Agnes Cummings, and a sister, Mary Katherine Bangs.

He is survived by his son, Timothy Cummings of Southside;  granddaughter, Shelbi Conger of Sulphur Rock;  two great grandchildren; sisters, Mae Shelton of Batesville, Mildred Fringer (Bob) of Southside, Melda Thomas (Robert) of Southside; brother, Paul Cummings of Salado; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service officiated by Brother Richard Knuckles will be held Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at 10AM at Egner Cemetery in Salado, AR. CDC guidelines will be in place and masks must be worn.
