Roy Ford Sr., 66, of Batesville went to be with the Lord August 17, 2016. He was born January 6, 1950 in Marvell, Arkansas to Scipio Ford and Weltha (Daniels) Ford. Roy Ford Sr. married Sarah Dixon May 19th, 1968. To this union were born 6 children. He received formal education from Eliza Miller High School in West Helena, Arkansas, and later attended Phillips County Community College and Arkansas College in Batesville, Arkansas. He accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age but declared that he ran from it for many years. He was introduced to Holiness in 1974 by Eugene Reliford where he later met Bro. David Terrell. He met Bro. Otha Hill at a church service and then began doing evangelistic work. He was called to be a pastor in 1992 when he declared the Lord spoke to him and said "Feed my sheep." It was then he founded New Testament House of Prayer in Batesville, Arkansas; where he was pastor and overseer for 24 years.
He was preceded in death by his father Scipio Ford, a daughter Telisha Ford, three brothers Cleveland Ford, Lloyd Ford, and Troy Ford, and one sister Gaynell Ford.
He leaves to celebrate his memory his mother Weltha Ford, his wife of 48 years Sarah Ford, six children: Linda Lamoureux and her husband Theodore, Wanda Lewis and her husband Richard, Terry Ford and his wife Laura, Trena Ford, Roy Ford Jr. and his wife Tona, Yolonda Evans Ford, and a special grandson/son Kendrick Ford; three brothers: Cladis Johnson and his wife Deloris, Carl Ford and his wife Cynthia, John Bailey Jr., and his wife Leslie; four sisters: Glenzola Suggs, Janice Chairs, Ardella Ford, and Gloria Johnson; 17 grandchildren: Lorfeatte Cunningham, Terrence Ford and his wife Jasmine, Kendrick A. Ford, Darius Johnson, Chelsea Johnson, Terrell Ford, Charlie Donnerson III, Darrion Muns, Destinee Muns, Trey Ford III, Shabrea Rusley, Cameron Ford, Jordyn Ford, Emma Ford, Ava Ford, Kenna Ford, and Alicia Evans; two great grandchildren Layla Cunningham and Jaelle Ford; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
Visitation will be Friday August 26th from 6-8 PM at Willis Funeral Service. The funeral service will be Saturday August 27th at 1 PM at the West Baptist Church with Pastor Otha Hill Sr. officiating. Interment will follow at the Oaklawn Cemetery.
