Obituary

R.M. Weaver passed away Friday, May 13, 2016 at Age 85. Born in Charlotte, AR December 30th, 1930, to Ransom Miles Weaver and Anne (Baker) Weaver. He was of the Baptist faith. R.M.'s family ran a Stave Mill, Saw Mills, Cotton Gins and were Blacksmiths. He graduated from Charlotte School, later attended Draughns School of Business in Little Rock and attended mechanic school in Memphis as well as many other short courses in different fields. He bought his first tractor at age 14 and made 31 bales of cotton that year at Charlotte. He continued combining, haybaling, trucking, selling timber, etc for many years. He began buying timber land as he could afford to & had many good partners engaged with him and at one time had 15,000 acres which he later sold for retirement purposes. In 1968, he got into the Real Estate business primarily selling & appraising rural properties. In 1978, due to health reasons, he reduced sales staff and primarily did appraisals until 2005 when he retired. R.M. was President of Independence County Farm Bureau 1948-1954 Member of Independence County Fair Board & President for several years Independence County Farm Family of the Year 1961 Member of Southside School Board, President 1963 Batesville Board of Realtors 1968 and served as President for several years Member & Director of Arkansas Cattlemen's Association Organized US Land Co. and put together 1480 acres now known as Eagle Montain Subdivision which includes the Wal-Mart Complex & Eagle Mountain Golf Course Member Batesville Chamber of Commerce Past member Young Business Men's Association Member Independence County Welfare Board One of original Board of Directors of Wood Lawn Nursing Home Development & helped build New Social Services & Health Dept. Building near Moorefield in 1998. He later located & bought property for Eastman Kodak to locate their plant at Rutherford off Gap Road. Appraised and went to court for all land owners when AP&L took land to build the large AP&L Generating Plant near Newark. R.M. was in many large condemnation appraisals in court such as Blanchard Caverns, Power Lines, Sub-Stations, Highways, Water Projects and other large court cases over Arkansas and other states. He was preceded in Death by his Grandparents: AB & Ollie (Reeves) Weaver Ben & Emma (Forts) Baker Ransom & Ann (Baker) Weaver He is survived by one Son: Ransom Roberts Weaver of Salado and one daughter: Rhona Joy Weaver Temple and husband, Bill of Little Rock One Granddaughter: Chelsea Varnell and husband, Jamie of Batesville 2 Great-Granddaughters: Laiken Varnell and Landry Varnell Two Sisters: Ann Ella Agee and N.W. Gates of Memphis, TN Mary Louise Arms and Orville of Charlotte, AR. Several Nieces and Nephews Friend & Companion: Billie Barber of Oil Trough, AR In all of R.M.'s life he never made a bad deal or looked back at anything. He was always looking forward to the future, the next auction, trip, tractor show, looking out over his farm and cattle and enjoying life. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 17th beginning 1:00 PM followed by funeral service at 2:00 PM both at Willis Funeral Service Chapel. Burial at Egner Cemetery near Salado
