Norma Lee
(Brewer) Dyson
Oct 29, 1941 — Sep 5, 2026
Norma Lee (Brewer) Dyson, 84, of Newark, AR, passed on Saturday, September 5, 2026. Norma was born on October 29, 1941, in Cave City, AR, to the late Homer Brewer and Mary Lee (Smith) Brewer. She was of the Christian faith.
Norma loved her family above all else. She had many hobbies and passions, but each of them was second to her family. Norma loved to cook and try new recipes with her family. She always made the best desserts. Nobody could believe the “Apple” Pie was really Zucchini! Norma also liked to go to yard sales and attend auctions (always looking for a good bargain). She enjoyed jewing them down and never paid asking price. Norma enjoyed the beauty of flowers! She loved her flowers! There were no “weeds”. When it came to flowers/wildflowers, a weed was just a weed if it wasn’t where you wanted it. More than anything she was proud to be a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a soon-to-be great-great-grandmother. She enjoyed attending Whitney's and Ashley's sports events (her youngest granddaughters) to support them. She also enjoyed helping take them to and from school and school events, and every child that she interacted with (regardless of whether they were family or not) knew her as “Mammy” and Mammy loved all her children. When the girls were in pre-k, the superintendent thought that she worked there. He would even ask her questions about how to do things. She would say, “I finally had to tell him, I don’t work here!” Norma also enjoyed playing Rummy, doing puzzles, and playing board games (all made better if it was with her family, of course). She will be dearly missed and forever loved by everyone who was blessed to know her.
Norma is preceded in death by both of her parents; her sister, Lillian Shirley; and her four brothers, Arthur Brewer, George Brewer, Waymon Brewer, and Marvin Brewer. She is survived by her son, Robert “Terry” Grissom; her daughters, Rhonda Cruse (Bob) and Mary Kirk (Scott); her brother, Jerry Brewer; her 8 grandchildren, Maria Layton, Lovina Robertson (Anthony), Skyler Cruse, Oriannia Cruse (David Walrath), Bobbie Knight, Alania Dellinger (Daniel), Whitney Kirk, and Ashley Kirk; 15 great grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter on the way; and several extended family members and friends.
Services are entrusted to Willis Funeral Service of Batesville, AR. Visitation will be on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at the Willis Funeral Service Chapel, from 5 PM until 7PM. The funeral service, officiated by Bro Dennis Gay, will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026,at 10 AM, also at the Willis Funeral Service Chapel.
