Nickey Dean Luster, 53, of Batesville, Arkansas died Monday, January 5, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born December 2, 1961 in Batesville, Arkansas to Marvin and Winnie Harmon Luster. He was of the Assembly of God faith. He knew from a young age that nursing would be his career. He began working at Dr. Gray's hospital at the age of 16. After graduating from Batesville School in 1980 he attended nursing school. He continued his career for over 25 years. Nickey was a caring, compassionate and talented nurse. The nickname "One Stick Nick" was given to him by his patients and colleagues because of his excellence in IV Therapy. It was a source of great pride for him when a patient would say how much they appreciated him and what a great job he had done taking care of them or a family member. His hobbies included watching sports and playing basketball with the gang on the ole "Westside ball court" back in his younger days and teaching his grandchildren to target shoot. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Tammy Kinion Luster of the home, a daughter, Ashley Nichole Luster Gallegly and her husband, Averie, of Batesville, granddaughters, Kenlee Lynn and Kendell Grace Gallegly of Batesville, and his father in-law, Tommy Kinion of Batesville. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, a brother Ziby Luster, grandparents Jim & Ethel Harmon and Horace & Ethel Luster, and his mother in-law Mary Frances Kinion. Services will be 2:00 P.M., Thursday, January 8, 2015 at the Cornerstone Community Church in Cushman with Leonard Tharp and Camron Hames officiating. Pallbearers will be Danny Carter, Floyd Haley, Chuck Palmieri, Gary Anderson, Rob Roberts and Jon Adams. Honorary pallbearer will be Nickey's friend of over 40 years, Dr. Ron Bates. Visitation will be Wesdnesday, January 7, 2015 from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M. at the Cornerstone Community Church in Cushman. Arrangements are by Willis Funeral Service of Batesville. www.willisfs.com
