Minnie Jean Layman, 81, of Cushman, passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2015 in Batesville. She was born March 9, 1934 in Cushman to Walter Monroe Kimmer and Geneva Nelson Kimmer. She was a county clerk for Independence County, devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Christian Life Center in Mt. Pleasant, enjoyed her family, cooking, gardening and canning. Ms. Layman loved animals (especially her dogs), enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and playing games. Survivors include her daughter, Linda Marie Layman Herpin of Cushman; two grandchildren, Angela Herpin-Parks of Virginia and Autumn Avila of Texas; and two great grandchildren, Emma Marie Parks and Olivia Grace Parks, both of Virginia. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert William Layman; two brothers, Roe Freeman Kimmer and James Russell Kimmer; and one sister, Wilma Cleo Kimmer.
