Obituary

Rev. Max Eugene Davis 87 of Jonesboro, formerly of Newark departed this life July 9, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on December 14, 1928 at Jacksonport to the late George and Hannah (Walker) Davis. He was ordained as a minister in 1958 in Michigan. He retired from Ford Motor Company in Livonia, Michigan. He was a 32nd degree Master Mason, Scottish Rites, Shriner and an Eastern Star member. He was Past Master of Bayou Doty 126 and Newark Lodge F&AM 248. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons George Robert and Kenneth Max Davis; eight sisters: Katherine Warren, Lucille Davis, Baby Davis, Rose Mae Howard, Dorine Lovendahl, Pauline Davis, Beatrice Whisnant, Barbara Morganroth, and three brothers: Harry, Billy, and George Davis. He is survived by his wife of 67 years Anna (Emery) Davis of the home, one daughter Virginia Davis and her husband George of Charlotte; one son Dale Eugene Davis and his wife Mary of Tuckerman, six grandchildren: Tammy Casey and her husband Brian, Maxine Miller, Casandra Manuel, James Davis and his wife Stacey, Dawn Poucher, John Davis and his wife Rainah; nineteen great grandchildren; sixteen great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and a host of loving friends throughout his life. Visitation will be held Tuesday July 12 from 6-8 PM, funeral services will be Wednesday July 13 at 2:00 PM both at the Willis Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Paul Wood officiating. Interment will follow at the Blue Springs Cemetery in Newark. Pallbearers include: Perry Crawford, Bill Duggar, Richard Ashcraft, Vic Brumfield, Steve Davis, and Dowel Savage Honorary Pallbearers include: Sam Poskey, Paul Jean Whisnant, and William Smart.
