Mary Alice Short, of Mt. Pleasant, AR, passed away Saturday, July 20, 2019, at Pioneer Therapy and Living Center in Melbourne, AR at the age of 83. She was born June 30, 1936 at Mt. Pleasant, Arkansas to Lowen and Naomi "Oma" Chappell Fulbright.

Alice was a loving homemaker who enjoyed crocheting, babysitting, and caring for animals. She helped the ICARE animal rescue organization by taking care of dogs in need of love and care. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Batesville for many years until her health prevented her from attending. Yet, she remained strong in her faith.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Charles Short; her parents; stepson Charles E. Short II; and her niece Sheryl Fulbright.

Alice is survived by her brother, Jimmie (Melba) Fulbright of Mt. Pleasant, AR; niece, Susan (Roger) Leonard of Flippin, AR; stepson, Lewis (Debra) Short of Anderson, CA; two stepdaughters, Rebecca (David) Bolejack of Holden, MO, and Sheryl (Jim) Fisk of Clark, MO; one step-daughter-in-law, Debbie Short of Galena, MO (wife of the late Charles E. Short II), and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Services are entrusted to Willis Funeral Service of Batesville, AR. There will be a gravesite service on Tuesday, July 23, 2019, at 2:00 p.m.at the Barren Fork Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant, Arkansas.
