Mary Elizabeth Parnell, 86, of Newark, died on Wednesday, March 20, 2024. She was born on June 10, 1938, in Smithfield, NC, to the late William Parnell and Zillar Jones. Mary grew up, settled down, and raised her family in North Carolina and was a loving, caring, and nurturing homemaker. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her family.

Mary is preceded in death by both of her parents; her husband of more than 55 years, Lawrence Parnell; her daughter, Susan Jones; and her son, David Parnell. She is survived by her son, Wayne Parnell; her two daughters, Connie Stanley (Danny) and Sandra Shryock; her brother, Larry Jones; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family members, and friends.
