Obituary

Marta Joy Goodrich passed away on November 3, 2026, in Batesville, AR, surrounded by her family. She was born on September 13, 1957, in Red Oak, Iowa, to the late Elmer Von Dielingen and Barbara Mae (Brown) Von Dielingen.

Marta loved to serve others. She was always cheerful and had a contagious laugh. She most enjoyed her family of siblings, children and the grand kids, evidenced by the numerous photos on the walls. She loved the Lord our God and He used her to bring many to Salvation or to strengthen their faith. She studied the Scriptures most every day and even studied the original Hebrew. Above all, she desired to honor God and point others to Him.

Her favorite activities were cooking, gardening, playing cards, and making a house a home. She enjoyed the outdoors and loved the four-wheeler to explore and give rides to the kids. She also liked the crazy rides – roller coasters, zip lines, and Ferris wheels. I introduced her to sailing on the open ocean and when family came to visit, we always had to find a lake with a boat to spend time on the water.

Because of her time in the Air Force, she was always quick to fix things on her own. She was very quick to learn things and always up for a challenge. She worked as a regular and a traveling nurse in several diverse settings – Med-surg, Neonatal, Labor and delivery, Emergency and others. We retired initially to North Idaho, then when her mom and brother-in-law became ill, we moved to Iowa to support them. After our time in Iowa, we moved to Arkansas.

Marta is survived by her husband, Donald Ward Goodrich; sons, Zachary Aguiar of Germany and Jedidiah Von Dielingen of California; daughters, Sarah Aguiar-Wallis of Viriginia and Laura Grundhaus of Apple Valley, California; brothers, Edwin Von Dielingen of Red Oak, Iowa and Ron Von Dielingen of Newton, Iowa; and sister, Ronda Daffer of Red Oak, Iowa. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Jerry Daffer.
