Lucinda "Irene" Stephens, 85, of Pleasant Plains, passed away Tuesday, September 20th, 2016. She was born February 26, 1931 to Albert David Strother and Monnie Lockwood (Harris) Strother. She was a Christian believer who attended the Church of Christ. She was a founding member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed being outside and gardening. She enjoyed quilting and she loved life. Most of all she loved to spend time with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Monnie Strother; her husband Jack Stephens; two sisters, Nella Gay and Stella Roberts; and two brothers, Bob Strother and Donald Strother. She is survived by her daughter, Jackie Thomas and her husband Freddie; her son, Tommie Stephens and his wife Sonja; two sisters Flo Krug and June Bailey; three granddaughters: Leslie Henderson and her husband Thomas, Amber Parks, and Mandy Hays and her husband Ben; four grandsons: Tyler Stephens, Brad Cathey, Allen Cathey, and Tyler Thomas; six great-grandchildren: Cody Martin, Lainey Parks, Jake Henderson, Piper Hays, Lydia Hays, and Kayden Cathey; and a host of other relatives and dear friends. Visitation will be Friday, September 23rd from 6-8 PM at the Willis Funeral Service Chapel. Funeral Services will be Saturday, September 24th at 2:00 PM at the Independence Missionary Baptist Church of Pleasant Plains with Bro. Brad Roberts officiating. Interment will follow at the Union Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers include: Wesley Darnell, Skyler Furrow, Randy Martin, Doug Martin, Hunter Biram, and Richard Henderson.
