IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kathryn Beth
Kramer
November 8, 1949 – December 17, 2024
Kathryn Beth Kramer, 75, of Austin, TX, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2024. Kathy was born on November 8, 1949, in Batesville, AR, to the late J.B. Kramer and Ura Fae (Burks) Kramer. She was of Christian faith and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Batesville, AR. Kathy was a brilliant, well-educated, and hard-working woman who, in her youth, enjoyed tennis, sewing, and going out dancing. After graduating from Batesville High School, she received her B.A. in Mathematics at Arkansas College (Lyon) in Batesville then went on to earn her master's degree in Sociology at University of Memphis. Kathy completed her Ph.D. in Sociology and Demography at the University of Texas at Austin. Throughout her professional career, Dr. Kramer taught as a college professor at many different universities in Austin and surrounding areas. She also worked for the State of Texas, including as the Associate Commissioner for Service Integration at the Texas Health and Human Services Commission. She served as Assistant Dean for Development for the School of Social Work at University of Texas at Austin.
Kathy had a true passion for social justice and being of service to others. Over the years, she served on the board of several non-profit organizations, including St. George's Court, Texans Care for Children, and Austin Child Guidance Center. In her later years, Dr. Kramer enjoyed listening to live music, solving crossword puzzles and word games, and spending time with her little dog, "Honey". But out of all her hobbies, passions, and titles, the title she loved the most was "Mom" and her greatest passion was being a mother. Kathy was an amazing and loving mother, daughter, niece, cousin, and friend. She will be dearly missed and forever loved by everyone who was blessed to know her. Kathryn is preceded in death by both of her parents, and her former husband, Dr. Gordon C. Johnson Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Adrienne Beth Johnson (Timothy Casterline), of Austin, TX, and many extended family members and friends.
