Karen Winetta Johnson Burns, daughter of the late Harold and Marjorie Johnson, was born on January 11, 1965, in Beirut, Lebanon. She died on January 27, 2022, at White River Medical Center in Batesville, Arkansas at the age of 57 years and 16 days. She was united in marriage to Patrick Burns on February 28, 1988, and together they raised two children. She spent her life as a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker, and friend. Karen was a graduate of Laurel Brook Academy near Chattanooga, TN, and Southern University in Collegedale, TN. She worked as a Registered nurse at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, TN, and White River Medical Center in Batesville, AR. After retiring as a nurse, she enjoyed spending time with her family, crafting, and painting. She found joy in the simple things in life and spent her days riding around the farm, enjoying nature, and taking pictures. She had taken thousands of photographs over the years of her family, birds, flowers, and cows. She was dedicated to God, her family, and her community. She was an active member of the Batesville Seventh Day Adventist Church and enjoyed volunteering her time to the church, working with the youth, and organizing the annual fall festival. She loved assisting the church with community projects by donating school supplies or preparing food drives during the holidays. She had a servant's heart and was always willing to help others.
Karen is survived by her husband of 33 years, Patrick Burns; her son, John Burns and wife, Charlee, of Mount Pleasant; her daughter, Marjorie Green and husband, Derrick, of Pleasant Plains; two grandchildren, Kash Burns and Koley Green; one brother, Stephen Johnson and wife, Linda, and a host of other relatives and many good friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and stepmother, Harriet Johnson.
The visitation and funeral service will be Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at Willis Funeral Service in Batesville, AR. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 pm with funeral service to follow beginning at 4:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Batesville Seventh Day Adventist Church to benefit the Youth Group and Camp Yorktown Bay Church Camp.
