Obituary

Joseph Thomas Moody, 65, passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at The Crossing in Searcy, Arkansas. He was born on May 4, 1961, in Flint, Michigan, to Vaughn Moody and Betty (Moxley) Moody.

Joseph, affectionately known as “Joe,” was a special man and truly a gift from God to those who knew and loved him. He brought joy and laughter to his family and had a personality that made him unforgettable.

Joe enjoyed watching wrestling and Walker, Texas Ranger. He loved fishing, bowling, and celebrating his birthday. He was an avid fan of the Arkansas Razorbacks and the Batesville Pioneers, especially when they were winning! Joe also enjoyed listening to music, particularly Elvis Presley and gospel hymns. One of the many things his family will fondly remember is how he good-naturedly endured the constant teasing from his older brothers. Through it all, Joe remained a cherished part of his family, bringing smiles and creating memories that will last a lifetime.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vaughn and Betty Moody; his grandparents, Joseph and Maggie (Smith) Moody, and Floyd and Zelda Moxley; his brother, Terry Gene Moody; and his nephew, Billy Sample.

Joe leaves behind to cherish his memory his brother, Steve (Dawn) Moody; sister-in-law, Elwanda Moody; nieces, Kit Horton and April Ward; nephews, Dustin (Leslie) Moody and Charlie (Tara) Sample; along with several great-nieces, great-nephews, and a host of family and friends.

Joe will be remembered for his unique personality, his love for his family, and the happiness he brought into the lives of those around him. His memory will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who loved him.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 16, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Willis Funeral Home Chapel in Batesville, Arkansas. Interment will follow at Blue Springs Cemetery in Newark, Arkansas.

Arrangements are entrusted to Willis Funeral Service of Batesville, Arkansas.
