Jonathan Scott Storrs, 66, of Newport, AR, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, April 3, 2026. He was born on November 4, 1959, in Birmingham, AL, to the late Robert Storrs and Jeanne (Vann) Storrs. Jonathan served his country honorably in the United States Air Force, and he was of the Christian faith.
Jonathan (who went by his middle name, Scott, for a large part of his life) was a loving soul with a servant’s heart. Aside from his service to his country, he enjoyed being of service to others; providing gifts to people at Christmas time who may not have otherwise had any (both adult and children alike); volunteering in the church kitchen to provide meals to the hungry; and he even had his own “bicycle ministry”, where he would repair old bikes for children who needed them, or sometimes just buy them one. Scott was a very hard worker. After his military service, he held various jobs including being a real estate agent in Alabama and working at the steel mill (SSP) in Newport. Scott will be dearly missed by everyone who was blessed to know and love him.
Scott is preceded in death by both of his parents; his brother, Robert B. Storrs Jr.; and his sister, Laurie Storrs Woodall. He is survived by his wife, Loriann Simpson Storrs; his son, Morgan Storrs (Kalli); his step son, Wes Poag; his step daughter, Megan Lawrence (Alex); his sister, Bonnie Storrs Walters (Brian); 6 grandchildren, Perseus Storrs, Athena Storrs, Lupe Trujillo, Logan Trujillo, Bella Trujillo, and Layla Lawrence; and many extended family members and friends.
Services are entrusted to Willis Funeral Service of Batesville, AR. There will be a visitation at the Willis Funeral Service Chapel on Friday, April 10, 2026, from 3 PM until 4 PM. The funeral service, officiated by Michael Kinder, will begin at 4 PM with the rendering of military honors by the United States Air Force.
