Obituary

Jimmy Galen Johnson (JJ), 70 of Batesville passed away Saturday July 11, 2015 in Batesville. He was born July 6, 1945 in Marshal Texas, to Barney Johnson and Linda Carter Johnson. He attended Texas A&M and was soon drafted to play baseball for the Baltimore Orioles. Later in life, he was a manager of the Sherwin Williams stores in Texas and also an Electrical General Forman, where he built power plants across the southern states. Jimmy was an accomplished singer and sang for many audiences around Longview, Texas. He was a showstopper at Karaoke because he made you feel like "Elvis was in the building." Jimmy enjoyed sports, especially baseball, but most importantly he loved spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife of eighteen years, Linda Johnson of Batesville, two sons; Garlin Dalton Harmon- Johnson of the home, and Trinidad J. Sanchez III, of Oklahoma City, five daughters; Wendy Dezavala of Tylor Texas, Amy Datwyler of Tylor Texas, Gina Carptner of Holdenville Oklahoma, Trinity Richie of Mountain View, and Tara Sunahara of Rancha Cordova California, one sister, Peggy Dykes of Sybers Texas, thirteen grandchildren; Lauren Datwyler, Claire Bishop, Cade Dezavala, Christian Reed, Clara Harmon, Brandon Harmon, Jessica Richie, Timmy Richie, Asiabella Sunahara, Alijah Sunahara, Jaxon Sunahara, Joslyn Sunahara and Levi Cartre Sanchez, two great- grandchildren, Ellaina Underwood, and Kaydence Reed. He is preceded in death by his parents, and son Garlin Sanchez. Memorial Services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, July 16, 2015 at Southside Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Richard Jones and Bob Daley officiating. Honorary Pallbearers are: Ed Datwyler, J.W. Parsons, Richard Jones, Gary Leidecker, Gene Gregg, Trinidad Sanchez III, Jason Richie, Dennis Nephew, and Dallas Underwood. Arrangements are by Willis Funeral Service of Batesville www.willisfs.com
