J.D. Hooper, age 73 of Southside, Arkansas, died on Friday, June 23, 2017.
J.D. was born on December 12, 1943, in Rosie, Arkansas to Pyxie Tucker Hooper and J.M. Hooper, the 6th of their 9 children. He began his new life in Christ at age 12. He graduated from Southside High School in 1963. He retired from Con-Agra.
J.D. had a long-time, avid interest in genealogy. He was a member of the Maple Springs Baptist Church, and supporter of Love a Child and other charities.
J.D. is survived by his children, Tracie Morris and Jerrie Hooper of Batesville, Hal Hooper and wife, Joy Lambating Hooper, of Southside, Brad Hooper and wife, Crystal Sharp Hooper of Batesville, and their mother, Carolyn Hooper, also of Batesville, Ashley Hooper Skinner and husband, Dustin Skinner of Maumelle, step-son, Brian Wright, and their mother, Annette Hooper, of Batesville; his grandchildren, Heather Ford and husband, John Ford, of Magness, Jacob Hooper and Josie McMahan of Cushman, Nicole Norris and husband, Matt Norris, of Floral, Preston Hooper of Floral, Haley Hooper of Oil Trough, Austin Hooper, Chris "Bub" Morris, Jr., Savannah Hooper, and Kurstin Skinner, all of Batesville; and great-granddaughters, Jordyn and Laikyn Ford of Magness and Maggie Jo Hooper of Cushman.
He is also survived by his sisters, Betty Jean Crutcher of Rosie, Amy Goyne and husband, Wesley Goyne, of Oil Trough, Barbara Marlin and husband, Ernie Marlin, of Cave City, and Judy Hooper Branscum of Rosie; his brothers, Clay Hooper and wife, Louise, of Rosie and J.M. Hooper and wife, Debra, of Rosie.
In addition, there are a host of surviving nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and other relatives.
J.D. was preceded to heaven by his parents, his brother, Joe Hooper, his sister, Dorris Martin, his brothers-in-law, Ed Crutcher and Abner Martin, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be at the Willis Funeral Home Chapel Tuesday, June 27th, 2017 from 6-8 PM. Funeral will be held at the Maple Springs Baptist Church on Wednesday, June 28th at 2 PM with Bro. Curt Howard officiating, followed by burial in the Maple Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Arrangements are by Willis Funeral Service of Batesville.
