James Clinton Payton passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 13, 2024, in Batesville AR. James was born on January 10, 1929, to the late Clarence and Orpha "Everett" Payton. James owned a furniture store for many years. He loved to buy things and fix them up. James loved to work in the yard and enjoyed going to auctions. James Payton was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will be greatly missed by all those who loved him.

James Clinton Payton is preceded in death by his wife of many years, Wilma Payton, his son, Don Payton, both of his parents, seven brothers, and three sisters. He is survived by his daughter, Ann Baker, and two grandchildren, Troy and Timothy Baker of Fort Branch, Indiana.
