James “Scott” Huskey, 58, of Strawberry, Arkansas, passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2026, in Batesville, Arkansas. He was born on September 20, 1967, in Newport, Arkansas, to Paul Huskey and Dorthy “French” Huskey.

Scott was a man whose life was filled with family, faith, hard work, and the simple things that brought him happiness. He was of the Christian faith and attended Mount Harmony Free Will Baptist Church.

A skilled electrician and a superior handyman, Scott was the kind of person who could fix just about anything. More importantly, he was always willing to use those talents to help someone else. Whether something needed repairing, building, or figuring out, Scott was often the person family and friends knew they could call.

Scott had many interests, and when he found something he enjoyed, he embraced it wholeheartedly. He loved fishing, hunting, magnet fishing, metal detecting, and searching for arrowheads. He had a special fascination with collecting coins and money and could spend hours looking through coins and appreciating the history behind them. He also enjoyed listening to audiobooks and watching documentaries.

Scott was an excellent cook and especially enjoyed smoking meat for those around him. But of all the things that brought him joy, nothing compared to spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Those moments were among the ones he treasured most.

Those who knew Scott knew his personality was uniquely his own. He could be a little grumpy, he could make you laugh, and he could bring happiness into a room simply by being himself. Beneath it all was a man who loved deeply, helped freely, and was dearly loved in return.

Scott was preceded in death by his brother, Paul David Huskey, and his nephew, Jace Freeman. In a deeply touching chapter for the Huskey family, Scott’s father, Paul Huskey, followed his son in death just two days later, on September 8, 2026. Their passing so closely together brings an immeasurable sorrow, yet also the comforting thought that father and son were not separated for long.

Left to cherish Scott’s memory are his mother, Dorthy “French” Huskey; his loving wife of 24 years, Wendy “Grant” Huskey; his son, Ryan Huskey (Kanah); two daughters, Kayla McBride (Maya) and Emily Huskey (Peyton Gregory); two grandchildren, Oaklynn Huskey and Fletcher; one brother, Bill Huskey (Helen); and one sister, Lucinda Huskey. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever carry his memory with them.

Scott also leaves behind a special family formed through years of working alongside his brothers and sisters at CCP and Conagra Foods. They were more than coworkers—they were friendships built through long days, shared laughter, hard work, and countless memories. The bonds Scott formed with them held a special place in his life, and his family lovingly recognizes each of them as part of the many lives he touched along the way.

Scott will be remembered not simply for the things he could fix, build, cook, find, or collect, but for the memories he created and the love he left behind. His tools may now be still, and his favorite fishing spots may seem a little quieter, but the stories, laughter, lessons, and love he gave to those around him will continue for generations.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 11, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Willis Funeral Service Chapel. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Willis Funeral Service Chapel, with Stanley Vandergrift officiating. Burial will follow at Lincoln Ward Cemetery.
