Obituary

James Joseph Black, 87, passed away Friday, March 24, 2017. He was born March 1st, 1930 in Port Chester, New York to William Black and Gertrude (Zirkel) Black. He was a Roman Catholic who attended St. Mary's Catholic Church in Batesville. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Batesville Optimist Club, and enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Gertrude Black; his first wife Timmie and his second wife Jeanette; five brothers: Thomas Black, Travis Black, Vincent Black, John Black, and Charles Black; and two sisters Carol Maragnano and Marion Fredricks. He is survived by three sons: Chris Black, Jim Black, and Tom Black; two daughters Lynn Turnbull and Sally McAndrews; one sister Barbara McConville; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and dear friends. A memorial service is planned to be held Saturday, April 1st beginning at 11 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in memory of Mr. Black to the American Cancer Society.
