Harry Earl Shiers, 78, of Batesville passed away Friday, October 24, 2014 in Batesville. He was born August 20, 1936 in Akron, OH to Chester E. Shiers and Gertrude Harris Shiers. He graduated with a Bachelors of Arts from University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and was an instructor for Industrial Mechanics at the University of Arkansas Community College in Batesville. Harry served in the Marines Corps. for twenty-one years and retired as a Master Sergeant. He loved fishing, hunting and being outdoors. Harry was an avid reader. Survivors include one daughter, Debora Langley of Batesville; two brothers, Richard Shiers of Mt. Pulaski, IL and David Shiers of Normal, IL; two sisters, Judith Wilmoth of St. Augustine, FL and Kathy Williams of Bloomington, IL; and four grandchildren, Lance Corporal Austin Raley, Andrew Martel, Brady Shiers and Kenna Shiers. He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Kenneth Shiers; one sister, Janice Miller; and one brother, Donald Shiers.
