Harold Gaylon Girtman, 76, of Batesville, died on Tuesday morning, June 16, 2026. Gaylon was born on March 4, 1950, in Cave City, AR, to the late Orville Coy Girtman and Sybil (Gay) Girtman. He was of the Christian faith. Gaylon served his country honorably in the United States Army after being drafted in 1969 to deploy to Vietnam. Gaylon was a proud veteran and a true patriot. He loved reading and enjoyed being outdoors, especially hunting. More than any hobby, career, or passion, the thing he cherished the most was his family. He especially enjoyed being a grandfather. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. Gaylon will be dearly missed by everyone who was blessed to know him.
Gaylon is preceded in death by both of his parents; his first wife, Ilene Girtman; his daughter, Sherry Mone Girtman; his brother, Michael Joe Girtman; and his sister, Linda (Girtman) Ward. He is survived by his loving wife of an amazing 32 years, Deborah “Debbie” (Emery) Girtman, of the home; his son, Robert Banks (Lisa) of Olyphant, AR; his two brothers, Orville Charles Girtman, of Eagle Lake, TX, and Billy Dwayne Girtman, of Cave City, AR; his sister, Regina (Girtman) Weve, of Mount Hope, KS; his two beloved grandchildren, Daniel Chatman Banks (Jessica), and Shelby Rena Banks; his 5 treasured great-grandchildren, Daniel “DJ” Banks, Jr., Vincent Edward Banks, Everett Leigh Banks, Camri Rena Gates, and Tucker Dean Dewhitt; and several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Services are entrusted to Willis Funeral Service of Batesville, AR, and will be held on Friday, June 19, 2026, at the Willis Funeral Service Chapel in Batesville. Visitation will be from 1 PM until 2 PM, with the funeral service, officiated by Bro. Dennis Gay, beginning at 2 PM. Interment will immediately follow at Fairview Cemetery in Cave City, AR. Military Honors will be rendered at the gravesite by the United States Army. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Kevin Girtman, Daniel Banks, Brody Girtman, Chad Riley, Paul Hatch, and Justin Hatch. The family would like to recognize the following people as honorary pallbearers: George Davis and Zach Cooper.
