George Dalton Foster, 80, of Batesville, passed away Monday, October 28, 2013 in his home. He was born July 8, 1933 in Clarendon, Arkansas, he was the eldest son of Aubray Dalton Foster and Lucy May Smith Foster. He served in the U.S. Navy, retiring in 1970, as a Boatswain Mate First Class. He also worked as a security officer with ConAgra Foods in Batesville until sometime in 2003. He enjoyed fishing, gambling in Tunica and watching professional bull riding on television.
Survivors include his mother, Lucy Foster of Brinkley; a daughter, Marjorie Lynn Foster Hileman of Winter Haven, FL; four sons, Michael D. Foster, George A. Foster, William Joseph Foster and Ralph E. Foster all of Batesville; a sister, Ruthie May Walters of Star City; three brothers, Virgil Darrell Foster of Clarendon, Toby Joe Foster of Rosie and Robert Leon Foster of Locust Grove; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father; a sister, Mary Ellen Turner and a brother, Kenneth "Curley" Foster.
Graveside services will be Thursday, October 31, 2013, 11:00 a.m. at the Shady Grove Cemetery in Clarendon with Gid Walters officiating. Honorary Pallbearers are Floyd Turner, Keith Jackson, Michael Beto McFatter, Johnny Foster, Toby Foster, Jr. and Roger Turner.
Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 30, 2013
