Obituary

Floyd J. Evans, 94 of Batesville passed away Sunday, August 17, 2014 in Batesville. He was born March 6, 1920 on Hutchinson Mountain to David Preston Evans and Docia Francis Hale Evans. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and retired from ConAgra Foods. Floyd was a member of the Harrison St. Church of Christ and loved telling stories. Survivors include his son, David Evans of Tallahassee, FL; three daughters, Loetta Page of Moberly, MO, Sharon Winkle of Batesville and Deborah Galbreath of Memphis, TN; one brother, Denver Lamons of Pleasant Plains; one sister, Verna Lea Clark of Batesville; eleven grandchildren and several great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty Ruth Evans; one son, Floyd A. Evans; one daughter, Lela Hildebrand; four sisters, Elsie Herron, Nola McGough, Edith Evans and Marcella King; Services will be 10:00 A.M., Thursday, August 21, 2014 at the Willis Funeral Service Chapel with Tom German officiating. Interment will be at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Batesville. Pallbearers are Wesley Winkle Dale Clark, Glen Brooks, Tony Favaloro, Bob Day, and Mike Winkle. Honorary Pallbearers are the staff at Woodlawn Heights and Dr. Robert Walton. Visitation is Thursday, August 21, 2014 from 9:00 A.M. til service time.
