Evelyn Jane Thorne, 87, of Locust Grove passed away Wednesday, September 27th, 2017. She was born July 23rd, 1930. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Southside. She was a big Arkansas Razorback football and basketball fan. She also enjoyed watching NBA basketball and St. Louis Cardinals baseball. She will be remembered as a good momma and grandma, and the sweetest woman in the world. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bessie (Hanks) and Jessie Hayden; her husband, Norman Thorne; three brothers, Austin Hayden, Horase Hayden, and Audley Hayden; two sisters, Lorene McSpadden and Hazel Bess; three grandsons, Keith Thorne, Matthew Thorne, and Scott Sutherland. She is survived by one son, Sheldon Thorne and his wife Sissy; one daughter, Teresa (Thorne) Sutherland; one brother, Jeffery Hayden and his wife Jo of Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Sharla Huskey, Zack Sutherland, Dana Sutherland, Jared Cook, and Jason Cook; and four great-grandchildren, Kaleb Huskey, Taylor Boyce, Leighton Kobi, and Kayla Mason. Visitation will be Saturday, September 30th from 12-2 PM with the funeral service beginning at 2 PM both at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Southside with Bro. Reagan Shearer officiating. Burial will follow at the Locust Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers include, Jared Cook, Coty Reeves, Shannon Boozer, Ernie Welch, Gary Jeffery, and Ricky Defries. Honorary Pallbearers include, Kenneth Altom, Tony McSpadden, T.L. Thacker, Alan Bess, Paul Hayden, Gary Hayden, and Carson Hayden.
