Edwina Irene Vanscoder, 82, formerly of Brawley, CA, died on March 26, 2026, in Batesville, AR. She was born on October 7, 1943, in Woodward, OK, to the late Edward Rhoads and Lillie (Swearingen) Rhoads. Edwina was a bookkeeper for many years. She also worked for Imperial County Employment Development Department and eventually retired after many years at Calipatria State Prison. Edwina was a Christian and served the Lord in her early years at Brawley Assembly of God Church, and in her later years at Valley Baptist Church in Brawley, CA. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. Edwina enjoyed puzzles of all kinds and reading, especially her Bible. Earlier in her life, she was fond of crafting, especially sewing clothing and quilting. Most of all, Edwina loved and cherished her family. She will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.

Edwina is preceded in death by both of her parents; her sister, Janet Littrell; her previous husband, Calvin Vanscoder; her brother-in-law, Robby Robison, and 3 great-grandchildren, Eva Ramos, Amanda Buenrostro, and Lucas Lynch. She is survived by her two sons, Jack Vanscoder (Regina), and Don Vanscoder (Barbara); a beloved friend that she considered a son, Richard Valdez (Karen); her daughter, Cathy Lynch (Kevin); a beloved friend that she considered a daughter, Lee Anne Merrigan (Rod); her brother, Dale Rhoads; her 4 sisters, Merle Jean Robison, Glenda McCowan (William), Donna Rhoads, and Retha Deel (Gary); her 13 grandchildren, Joshua Vanscoder (Stacey), Jason Vanscoder, Justin Vanscoder (Alondra), Jennifer Jackson (Ryan), Misty Vanscoder, and Samantha Sanders (Scott), Channing Ramos (Reuben), Kevin Lynch Jr. (Priscilla), Joseph Christopher (J.C.) Vanscoder (Katherine); Alexander Baldwin (Kristina), Katie Baker. Sam Colello (Melissa), and Abigail Buenrostro (Abel); 25 great-grandchildren, Jonathon Vanscoder, Gabbriel Grissom, Karleigh Vanscoder, Jaxon Vanscoder, Ethan Vanscoder, Reese Vanscoder, Katelyn Garcia, Abraham Vanscoder, Emaline Vanscoder, Mason Vanscoder, Christopher Vanscoder, Lawson Vanscoder, Preston Vanscoder, Emily Jackson, Sarah Jackson, Claire Jackson, Zodius Vanscoder, Finn Sanders, Ezekiel Ramos, Elise Ramos, Noah Najera, Adelina Gaspar, Adeline Buenrostro, Amelia Buenrostro, and Hazel Colello; her great-great grandchild, Atlas Garcia, and several extended family members and friends.

Services are entrusted to Willis Funeral Service of Batesville, AR, and Frye Chapel of Brawley, CA. Services in California will be on Monday, April 13, 2026, at 10 AM at Brawley Assembly of God Church, with internment to follow at Riverview Cemetery in Brawley, CA. A Memorial Service will be held at Willis Funeral Service in Batesville, AR, on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 11 AM.
