Donald Gene Bingham, 80, of Sulphur Rock, AR went Home to His Heavenly Father on Friday,
April 10, 2015. He was born in Tupelo, MS December 24, 1934 to Willie B. Bingham and
Carry Flournoy (Buchanan) Bingham.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, James Edward, two sisters, Willie Laverne Radseck and Flora Ewilda Garner.
Surviving him are two children, son, Daniel Barry Bingham of South Haven, MI; daughter, Kathleen Ann White of Plant City, FL; stepdaughter, Kandra W. Douglas of Sulphur Rock, AR; two grandsons; a sister, Robinette Bingham Dykstra of Carpentersville, IL; a brother, William Doyle Bingham; sisters, Frances Cary Dailey, Linda Carolyn Napier and Mary Lou Keen, all of South Haven, MI and many nieces and nephews.
Gene, as he was known to all, lived and worked in the Batesville and surrounding area for many years. He was the Maintenance Manager for Gray's Hospital in Batesvillle after which he became a Master Plumber and Electrician and opened his own plumbing business, Bingham Enterprises, which he operated until his retirement. He was the Independence County Plumbing Inspector. He also founded the White River Plumbing Apprenticeship School in Batesville and taught there for twenty years. During that time, not a single student of his who fulfilled the requirements failed their licensing test. Gene was an avid reader and student of The King James version of The Holy Bible. He spent several hours each day doing this and loved to discuss religion with others.
Services will be 2 P.M., Saturday, April 18, 2015 at the Willis Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Jim Wheeler officiating. There will be a private burial in the Sulphur Rock Cemetery.
