Obituary

Dona Elizabeth Bullington, 90, of Newark, Arkansas, passed away on November 4, 2026. She was born on October 3, 1936, in Walnut Grove, Arkansas, to Price Carmen Bullington and Ola Alma Burge. Her life was filled with love for her family, devotion to her faith, and joy in the simple things.

Dona retired from AT&T after 33 years of service as a telephone operator. She found happiness tending her flowers and vegetable garden, sewing, and spending time with her beloved tomcat. Her garden was a place of care and beauty, reflecting the love she shared with those around her.

One of Dona’s sweetest gifts was her beautiful singing voice. She sang like a songbird, and “Hallelujah” was a song she especially loved to sing. The memory of her voice will remain a precious comfort to those who loved her. A woman of Baptist faith, Dona attended Center Grove Baptist Church.

Above all, Dona loved her family and friends. Her presence, her songs, and the everyday moments spent together will be lovingly remembered. She leaves behind memories that will continue to bring smiles, comfort, and a lasting sense of her love.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Price Carmen Bullington and Ola Alma Burge; three brothers, Gardner Bullington, Robert Bullington, and Ken Bullington; and her son, John Carmen Bullington.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, James Anthony Polk (Rachel Michelle Polk); her daughter, Melina Beth Forbes (Kevin Winger); her brother, Thomas Bullington; and five sisters, Eva Jane Pike, Joyce Densford Bogert, Frances Colleen Schmuck, Ann Sue Bullington, and Pam Bullington. She also leaves three grandchildren, Tyler Holt, Courtney Elizabeth Porter (Brent Porter), and Brianna Bethany Harris (Gary Jernigan); one great-granddaughter, Ariana Jade Jernigan; and many other family members and dear friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. at Willis Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m., also at the chapel, with Bill Goodwin officiating.

Dona’s beautiful voice may be quiet now, but the love she shared will continue to sing in the hearts of her family and friends.
