Darlene Renee
Howard
June 4, 1974 – May 18, 2026
Darlene Renee Howard, age 51, of Cave City, Arkansas, passed away on May 18, 2026, surrounded by the love of the family and friends who meant so much to her throughout her life. Born on June 4, 1974, in Conway, Arkansas, Darlene was the beloved daughter of the late James Kelly and Barbara Pierce Hughes, who survives her.
Darlene was a woman whose heart overflowed with kindness, compassion, and unwavering love for her family, her faith, and everyone fortunate enough to know her. She dedicated her life to serving God and found great joy in attending church and surrounding herself with her church family at the Philadelphia Church of God. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she carried that love and light into every room she entered.
She shared a beautiful love story with the love of her life, Christopher Lacy Howard. The two met on June 13, 2001, beginning a journey filled with laughter, devotion, friendship, and unconditional love. They later united in marriage on March 16, 2008, and together built a life centered around family, faith, and treasured memories. Whether they were spending quiet afternoons having picnics, riding four-wheelers together, listening to music, or simply enjoying each other’s company, Darlene cherished every moment spent with her husband.
Above all else, Darlene was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. For 25 years, she poured her entire heart into her children and grandchildren, always making sure they felt loved, supported, and encouraged. Her grandchildren were among her greatest blessings, and nothing brought her more happiness than hearing their laughter or watching them grow. She loved each of her nine grandchildren deeply and made countless memories that they will carry in their hearts forever.
Darlene had a beautiful spirit and a love for life’s simple joys. She enjoyed fishing, planting flowers and watching them bloom, going to church, listening to music, watching movies, and especially relaxing with her favorite television show, The Big Bang Theory. She adored animals, especially her beloved dog, Parker, who brought her endless comfort and companionship.
To know Darlene was to know genuine love. She treated everyone with kindness and respect, never hesitating to help someone in need or offer words of encouragement. Her warmth, gentle nature, and caring heart left an unforgettable mark on everyone she met. She loved deeply, forgave easily, and always made others feel welcomed and valued.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Kelly; her grandfather, Kenneth Pierce; her aunt, Mary Neil; and her great-grandmother, Grandma Kelly.
Those left to cherish her precious memory include her loving mother, Barbara Hughes; her devoted husband of 25 years, Christopher Howard; her son, Scott Prestige and wife Ashlee; her daughters, Katie Ciston and husband Cody, and Britteny Prestige and husband Heath; her cherished grandchildren, Shane Howard, Abby Brown, Adillynn Prestige, Evelyn Prestige, Cannan Prestige, Lila Boody, James Cobb, Cavan Carson, and Anna Annaleese; and her sisters, Mary Kelly and Sharon Dotson, along with many extended family members, dear friends, and church family who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
Though her family’s hearts are broken by her passing, they find peace in knowing that Darlene lived a life full of love, faith, and purpose. Her gentle soul, beautiful smile, and caring heart will continue to shine through the many lives she touched. She will be deeply missed every day and lovingly remembered forever.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Darlene Renee Howard will be held at a later date.
