Cpl. Quentin John Carroll, 41, of Locust Grove, passed away Friday, April 24, 2015 in Batesville. He was born July 14, 1973 in Waterloo, IA to Raymond Carroll and Mary Ann Riggs Carroll. John served in the U.S. Marines, was a Deputy Sheriff for the Independence County Sheriff's Department, loved spending time with his children and duck hunting.
Cpl. Quentin John Carroll began his service in law enforcement as a Jailer with Craighead County in 1997. He started as a full-time Deputy with Craighead County Sheriff's Office on September 1, 1998. John graduated from the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy on December 27, 1998 with Basic Class 98-D. On September 11, 1999 he began working for the Independence County Sheriff's Office as a Deputy. During his career, John worked positions with the 1st and 3rd Drug Task Forces as a Narcotics Investigator. During John's time with the Independence County Sheriff's Office he worked as a Deputy, School Resource Officer, Criminal Investigator, and most recently as a Corporal in the Patrol Division. During a large portion of his career, John was a K9 Handler for the Sheriff's Office. John completed training in numerous areas- Certified K9 Handler, TASER Instructor, Field Training Officer, Narcotics Training, Criminal Investigations, General Certificate from CLEST, SWAT Operator Eagle and numerous other training.
Survivors include his father, Raymond Carroll of Jonesboro; his wife of eight years, Stephanie Carroll of Locust Grove; two sons, Dawson Autry and Quentin John Carroll II; two brothers, Shawn Carroll of Poway, CA and Thomas Carroll of Jacksonville, FL; one step-brother, Stephen Foust of Jonesboro; and one step-sister, Kelli Turner of Burleson, TX.
He is preceded in death by his mother.
Services will be 2:00 P.M., Thursday, April 30, 2015 at UACCB in Independence Hall with Bro. Curt Howard officiating. Interment will be in the Barnes Cemetery at Bethesda. Pallbearers are Randy Sharp, Shawn Stephens, Alan Cockrill, John Scarbrough, Chris Garner and Rob Leonard. Honorary Pallbearers are the Independence County Sheriff's Department, Thomas Carroll, Shawn Carroll, Mike Blue, Mike Mitchell, Mike Carroll, Jim Carroll and Bradley Rosson.
Visitation will be 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at the Willis Funeral Service Chapel.
