Charlene Altom Emerson, 81, of Pleasant Plains passed away Friday, September 16th, 2016. She was born May 19, 1935 to Charles H. Altom and Murvell (Harbour) Altom. She was a member of the Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Pleasant Plains. She loved to sew and loved being mom to her children. She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Murvell Altom; her husband Wilford L. Emerson; one sister Willie F. Gosnell; and one brother Daleway Altom. She is survived by five sons: Roger Emerson and his wife Susie, Donnie Emerson and his wife Kelly, James Emerson and his wife Jamie, Scott Emerson and his wife Brenda, and Neal Emerson and his wife Barbara; one daughter Bettie Clark and her husband Dale; two brothers Geroge Altom and Henry Altom; one sister Ann Williams; 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and dear friends. Graveside Services will be Monday September 19th at 3:00 PM at the McMullin Cemetery in Pleasant Plains with Bro. Reggie Walling officiating. Honorary Pallbearers include: Roger Emerson, Donnie Emerson, James Emerson, Scott Emerson, Neal Emerson, and Dale Clark. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in memory of Mrs. Charlene to the American Heart Association.
