Measels
July 22, 1937 – June 2, 2020
Carlton Wilson Measels, 82, of Desha, AR departed this earth on June 2, 2020, at Woodlawn Heights Nursing Home. He was born on July 22, 1937, in Wilmar, Arkansas to John Hughes Measels and Doris Elizabeth Stegall Measels. Carlton loved his family and loved visiting with anyone who would talk with him. He was a Master Class-man Ham Radio Operator (call letters: AC5EI) and a retired Test Equipment Supervisor for White Rodgers in Batesville. He also studied electronics, radio, and TV at Draughon's Business College in Little Rock, AR. He was a 1956 graduate of Carlisle High School and was a proud Carlisle Bison Alumni. He loved attending Carlisle school reunions and devoted many hours putting together pictures for the Carlisle High School Museum.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Carpenter-Measels, married on September 28, 2019, at Woodlawn Heights Nursing Home; daughter, Karla Measels Johnson (John) of Batesville, Arkansas; sons: Mark Measels (Nancy) of Douglasville, Georgia, and Dusty Bailey (Amy) of Waukegan, Illinois; brothers, Bobby Measels of Carlisle, and Gerald Measels of Searcy; as well as, 15 Grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild. From his marriage to Helen he gained two step-daughters, Brenda Speakman of Sulphur Rock and Sandra Finley of Cave City; step-sons, Danny McClellan of Monticello and Joseph McClellan of Pleasant Plains; as well as, 12 step-grandchildren; 34 step-great-grandchildren, and 4 step-great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Doris Measels; his first wife of 57 years, Joyce Floyd Measels; son, Robert Dale Bailey; brother, John William Measels; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 5, 2020, at 2:30 p.m. at Centerpoint Cemetery in Hazen, AR. Pallbearers: John Johnson, Zach Bailey, Tyler Measels, Andy Denham, Aaron Bailey, Robert Bailey, Jeffrey Baxter Honorary Pallbearers: Johnathan Johnson and Jeremy Johnson.
