Billie Sue Melton, 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and a close friend, on April 2, 2024, in Batesville, AR. She was born on February 25, 1942, in Lafferty, AR, to the late William McCance and Mae (Glenn) McCance. Billie retired from LaCroix Optical. She had many talents, including sewing, singing, and oil painting. The thing she enjoyed most was singing with her sisters, Kat, Faye, and Bobbie. They made up the McCance Sisters, and they had sang together since they were kids. Billie was a Christian and a member of Cornerstone Community Church in Cushman. She loved people deeply, always having a way of making them feel good about themselves. Billie touched many lives and will be greatly missed by all those that loved her.
Billie is survived by her son, Russell Melton (Michele); daughter, Paula Clark (Sky); brother, Coby Melton; sister, Kathryn Clouse; grandchildren, Nicholas Melton, Lonnie Clark (Stacey), and Candace Morrow (Ryan); great-grandchildren, Kieler Clark, Lily Clark, Lucy Clark, Morgan Wimberley (Andrew), Ruby Morrow, Eli Morrow, and Brock Morrow; great-great grandchild, Asher Wimberley; and several extended family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, William McCance and Mae (Glenn) McCance; husband, Chester Melton; several brothers and sisters; and quickly reunited in Heaven with her son, Emmanuel "Wayne" Melton.
Services will be held for both Billie and her son, Wayne, at Cornerstone Community Church on Friday, April 5, 2024, with visitation starting at 12 PM. The funeral service, officiated by Leonard Tharp and Carl Blankenship, will follow at 2 PM. Interment will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Cushman, AR. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are James Ray Melton, Andy Cowden, Randy "Bear" Riley, William Riley, Glenn Melton, and Ronnie McCance. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Arkansas Children's Hospital and St. Jude's Research Hospital. Services are entrusted to Willis Funeral Service.
