Betty Jo Sterling, 74, passed away on February 19, 2026, in Batesville, AR. She was born on June 2, 1951, in Norfolk VA, to the late Charles Howard Phelps and Thelma Mae (Harrison) Phelps. Betty was an avid coffee drinker and enjoyed it from sunup to sundown. She was an immaculate housekeeper and loved working when she was able. Betty was friendly, loving, and caring. Above all else, she loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her kids and grandkids.

Betty is survived by her son, Jimmy Gene Sterling; daughter, Becky Ann Sterling; brother, Charles Howard Phelps; sister, Ann Schafer; fifteen grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alton Sterling Sr.; brothers, James Larry Phelps and Charles Phelps; sisters, Linda Gilley and Sandra Phelps; and son, Alton Sterling Jr.
