Obituary

Archie Dean Johnson, 74, of Batesville passed away Saturday, June 28, 2014 in Batesville. He was born April 7, 1940 in Lafferty to Archie Elmer Johnson and Paris Nora Caraway Johnson. Dean attended Cushman Public Schools and Arkansas College. He served in the Army as a Censor and worked for the Arkansas Highway & Transportation Department as a crew leader. He was a member of the Central Avenue United Methodist Church and the Gainesboro Masonic Lodge. Dean was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and a good friend He was an avid reader and loved history. He always had a joke. His sense of humor was amazing. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Barbara Ball Johnson of Batesville; one daughter, April Johnson of Batesville; one son, Gregory Dean Johnson and his wife Jeri of Springdale; three grandchildren, Taylor Johnson, Bailey Johnson, and Kenadi Johnson all of Springdale; one niece, Trish Walker of Maumelle and many cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jack Johnson and Vernon Johnson; one sister, Lena Mae Johnson and his uncle, James Johnson. Memorial Services will be 2:00 P.M., Sunday, July 6, 2014 at the First Church Of The Nazarene located at 1611 E. Harrison Street in Batesville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Independence County Library, 368 E. Main Street, Batesville, Arkansas, 72501.
