Alvin J Newton, 77, passed away Thursday, December 28th, 2017. He was born July 27th, 1940 in Nebraska. He was united in marriage with his wife Barbara Newton of February 21st 1964. He was a member of the Pleasant Plains United Methodist Church. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and Navy. He was a member of the V.F.W., the Masonic Lodge, and the American Legion. He loved watching birds, enjoyed his computer, and loved time spent with his grandkids. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Donita Lynn Sample; and his brother, Gerald Pospisil. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara Newton; his son, Robert James Newton Sr. and his wife Tracy; four sisters, Sherry Hansen, Betty Dorr, Lavon Wilkerson, and Jane Baxa; seven grandchildren, Robert James Newton Jr. and his wife Stephanie, Cody Rader Newton, Kyle Alvin Newton, Hunter Anthony Newton, Colt Justus Newton, Bailey Houy, and Kayla Cullum; and three great grandchildren, Oliva Donita Newton, Zoey Michelle Newton, and Payton Cullum. A graveside service was held on Saturday, December 30th at 2 PM at the Putman Cemetery of Pleasant Plains.
