Vera M. Barker, 89 of Pleasant Plains passed away Monday, August 11, 2014 in Batesville. She was born April 20, 1925 in Bald Knob to Luther R. Rash and Minnie Manola Edington Rash. She graduated from Arkansas College now Lyon College and taught school in Cushman, Manila, Wilburn & Osceola. Vera was an avid gardner and provided fresh floral arrangements for her church, Cedar Grove United Methodist Church in Floral.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, John H. Barker of Pleasant Plains; three daughters, Karen Barker of Pleasant Plains, Sara Barker Goff and her husband, Sam, of Memphis, TN, Joan Barker Schuman and her husband, Tom, of Rolla, MO and one sister, Donna Rash Smith and her husband Calvin of Hope and three grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Sandra Jane Barker; two sisters, Neva Overstreet Johnston and Glenda Rudder; three brothers, Louis Rash, Hudson Rash and Alvis Rash.
Graveside services will be 11:00 A.M., Friday, August 15, 2014 in the Cedar Grove Cemetery at Floral with Nikki Pierce and Aline McCracken officiating. Honorary Pallbearers are Wayne Gay, Tom Schuman, Sam Goff, Calvin Smith and Bill Rudder.
