Ralph Butler Gamel, 83, passed away February 25, 2017. He was born November 23, 1933 in Batesville, Arkansas to William Dewey Gamel and Altheda Mae (Hicks) Gamel. He was retired from General Motors and served in the United States Navy. He enjoyed fishing, being outdoors, working with cattle, and had volunteered at the Youth Ranch at Bethesda. He was a deacon of Pilgrim's Rest Baptist Church and very active in church work.
He was preceded in death by his parents William Dewey Gamel and Altheda Mae (Hicks) Gamel; two sisters Barbara Ann Fulbright and Joan Cobb; three sons, Ralph Billy Gamel, Steven Lynn Gamel, and Philip Wayne Gamel; and one daughter Karen Sue Gamel.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years Dortha Sue Gamel; one daughter-in-law Jamie (Smallwood) Gamel; 8 grandchildren: Candena Marie Fuller, Stephanie Lynn Rosas, Joshua Butler Gamel, Colton Wayne Gamel, Taylor McClendon, Maci Roehling, Gary Ray Perez, and Krystal Sue Lucy; 10 great-grandchildren: Tiera Sue Lucy, Chance Blaze Holstine, Ethan Ray Perez, Koda Jayne Perez, Eli Masner Perez, Phillip Wayne Gamel, Nathan Alexandre Rosas, Harper Elizabeth Rosas, Hadley Brooke Fuller, and Brekalyn Gail Gamel.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at the Pilgrim's Rest Baptist Church at 10 AM with Bro. Johnathan Baxter officiating. Pallbearers include: Lucas Hooper, Gary Perez, Paulino Rosas, Dennis Fuller, Josh Gamel, and Colton Gamel. Interment will follow at the Barnes Cemetery of Bethesda.
